Michael Belton

I majored in Graphic Design and earned my B.F.A. at the University of South Carolina. After interning for Chernoff Newman, I went on to design at the university’s central communications office for nearly three years, art directing and providing visual design guidance to drive engagement, increase enrollment, and build brand awareness.

As the senior designer at Rhodes Branding, I currently guide the development of creative materials from ideation to production. My day job is balanced with personal creative work, like branding and logo design and print collateral. This allows me to work on other cool projects, from emerging brands to current events.

My creative approach is finding points of differences behind ideas, the factor that sets a brand apart, and celebrating that visually. I typically do several iterations on each point of difference and refine the one that speaks the most to your brand.

For me, highlighting what sets you apart is the best way to capture your audience. It gets them excited about what you’re doing and inspires them to learn more about your idea and become advocates of your brand. Ultimately, it’s about creating a memorable identity.

Beyond design, I enjoy music, traveling and exploring other cultures with my wife, Dorcas, and raising our beautiful daughter, Avalyn.
